Something Changed. Now You Need Facts, Not a Fight.
Husbands call because they know
What We Look For Before Starting Cheating Spouse Surveillance
In this short video, Private Investigator Ken Childs explains what matters during the first call about a suspected cheating spouse case: what changed, when the spouse has the opportunity, whether there have been unexplained gaps in time, and how that information helps build a smarter surveillance plan.
Before you confront your spouse, get organized. The right details can help determine the best time and place for surveillance.
Does this sound familiar?
Most men do not call us because of one strange night or one bad excuse. They call because a pattern has changed or something is simply “off.”
Your wife’s suddenly distant. The intimacy feels different or maybe there are more last-minute meetings, girls’ nights, unexplained errands, or blocks of time where she cannot be reached when she normally would be. Maybe she is overly defensive and or gaslighting you? Has her story changed just enough to make you question yourself? You may not have proof yet, but you know something feels off.
This is the point where most people make their first mistake: they confront too early.
If your wife is cheating and you confront her before you have facts, you may show her exactly what you know, how you found it, and where she got careless. After that, the phone gets cleaner, the schedule gets tighter, and the affair, if there is one, becomes harder to document.
At Paramount Investigative Services, we help clients get answers through discreet professional surveillance investigations and professional documentation. We are licensed private investigators with more than 28 years of surveillance experience in the greater Los Angeles and throughout Southern California. Our job is simple: listen to what changed, identify the best opportunity for surveillance, and document what is actually happening.
Before we start any cheating wife investigation, we want to hear what is going on.
Not just “I think my wife is cheating.” We want to know why you think that. What changed? When did it start? When does she have the opportunity? Is it during work, after work, business trips, gym time, errands, school events, girls’ nights, or unexplained gaps in the day? The better the information, the better the surveillance plan.
We will ask about her routine, vehicle, work location, known schedules, recent changes, and any specific days or times that raise concern. We are not looking for drama. We are looking for patterns.
Before hiring any investigator,
Verify their California PI license and make sure they are properly licensed to conduct surveillance. Paramount Investigative Services is a licensed Los Angeles private investigation firm with decades of surveillance experience.
What You Should Do Before Calling us? Make notes!
Write down the behavior that concerns you. Keep track of dates, times, places, explanations, vehicles, and people she claims to be with. Pay attention to when she is unreachable or when her story does not line up. Do not follow her yourself. Do not hack her phone. Do not install tracking software. Do not place a GPS device. Do not show up at a hotel, restaurant, office, or parking lot trying to catch her in the act. That is where things go bad. You are emotionally involved. We are not. That matters.
When someone tries to catch their own spouse, they usually follow too close, react too fast, or confront too soon. A confrontation can destroy the investigation, create safety issues, or turn into something much worse. People have been hurt, arrested, and killed over domestic confrontations.
Stay quiet. Get organized, and let the professional investigators document the facts.

Learn more about surveillance servicesWhat Surveillance Looks Like
Surveillance is planned observation based on opportunity.
We use the information from your consultation to determine when and where your wife is most likely to meet someone, go somewhere unexpected, or do something different than what she told you.
Our investigators observe, document, and report. When activity is relevant, we capture video, photographs, timestamps, locations, vehicle information, and written notes.
This is not guesswork. This is experience.
After more than 28 years in surveillance and investigative work, we know how to stay back, stay patient, and document what matters without drawing attention or creating confrontation.
We Do Not Provide Live Updates During Surveillance
We do not provide live play-by-play updates during surveillance due to a few reasons. First off, it's best practices not to. Second, our insurance policy prohibits it and lastly, we don't want the investigator to be distracted while in the field. Live updates can put the client in motion and that can create confrontation and blown investigation or worse. Our role is to document the facts, not create a scene. Once surveillance is complete, we provide the evidence and reporting so you can make decisions with a clear head.
The Three likely outcomes of Surveillance:
Every cheating wife or most infidelity investigations in Los Angeles usually ends in one of three ways.
She Did What She Said She Was Going To Do
Sometimes surveillance shows that she went where she said she was going, met who she said she was meeting, and did what she said she was doing.
That may not be the answer the client expected, but it is still an answer. In those cases, surveillance can provide peace of mind. No harm, no foul.
She Lied but did not have an affair
Sometimes she does not do what she said she was doing, but the activity does not show an affair. -That still matters.
A lie is not always infidelity, but it may explain why something feels off. Maybe she is hiding something personal, socially, or its as simply as she'd like a break or wants quiet time. Maybe there are another issue in the marriage. Either way, you are no longer guessing.
You have facts.

Learn more about surveillance servicesWe catch and document her with another person
In some cases, surveillance confirms the concern. We may document her meeting another person, spending extended time with them, going to a private location, entering a hotel, residence, or vehicle, or otherwise engaging in activity that does not match what the client was told she was going to do.
When that happens, we provide the evidence: video, photographs, timestamps, locations, and a written report.
You get documentation, not rumors. Facts, not a screaming match.
What if we do not catch her cheating?
What If We Do Not Catch Her Cheating?
If surveillance does not confirm cheating, that does not always mean your concern was wrong. It may mean the first surveillance window was not the right window. Sometimes the opportunity happens when the client is believed to be unavailable, traveling, working late, or out of town. If the client still believes something is happening, we may discuss a realistic next step. In some cases, that could include planning surveillance around a time when she believes she has privacy and opportunity.
The point is not to bait someone for entertainment. The point is to create a realistic window to document what happens when she thinks no one is watching.
A Real Cheating Wife Surveillance Example
We have handled cheating wife investigations where the client suspected the affair was connected to work. The concern was not one isolated event. It was a pattern: late nights, last-minute work meetings, changed behavior, and explanations that did not feel right. Rather than confront her, the client called us.
After our consultation, we built the surveillance around the time and place where she had the most opportunity. We surveilled her during work as the client noticed a 3hour window she was not avaiable. We were right. We caught her with her ex boyfriend when she was supposed to be working. The investigation documented what was actually happening and gave the client the clarity he needed to terminate her employement and the relationship. This was a “win win.”
After Surveillance, Take a Breath Before You Act
If surveillance confirms your concerns, we will provide the evidence we documented, including photographs, video, timestamps, locations, and a written report when applicable. What you do next should be handled carefully. Every marriage is different. Finances, real estate, children, custody, schooling, religion, and family dynamics can all affect the right next step.
Before confronting your spouse or making any major decision, consider speaking with a family law attorney, a therapist, and, if your faith is important to you, clergy or a trusted faith-based counselor. A family law attorney can help you understand your legal options. A therapist can help you process what happened and decide what you want the outcome to look like. Faith-based counsel can help you consider the spiritual and family side of the decision.
Our role is to document the facts. What you do with those facts should be handled with a clear head and the right support.

Is it worth hiring a Private Investigator?
Yes, depending on your needs and the results, they can certainly sway your case in your favor.
As a Los Angeles private investigator, I’ve seen firsthand how valuable our work can be. In insurance fraud investigations, we can locate, surveil, and document everything carefully so attorneys or insurance companies have solid, actionable evidence.
I always tell my clients this: if you believe someone is up to something, they probably are. For example, in workers’ comp fraud cases, we operate under the assumption that the claimant is still working. Let’s face it, Los Angeles is too expensive not to work!
Sure, hiring a PI can feel like a gamble. But when it pays off, the return can be huge. We’ve saved companies hundreds of thousands and on a few cases millions of dollars by exposing the truth.
If you’re wondering whether hiring a PI is worth it, I’d say: when the stakes are high and you want the truth, the right Los Angeles private investigator can make all the difference

Verifying a California private investigator’s license is easy. Google “BSIS” and then click “Verify a Private Investigators license” Enter Paramount Investigative Services and License number 24065 for our current licensing information or Click this link for our current license information
What Evidence Can a Private Investigator Gather in an Infidelity Case?
Private investigators can perform surveillance investigations to collect video and photographic proof of locations, meetings and persons met. If only observations were made the investigator can report back to the spouse to determine future surveillance. In some states GPS trackers are allowed to be used in tracking a spouse’s activities.
What are the risks of hiring a private investigator?
The investigator can get caught by the person they’re watching and or other witnesses can spot the investigator and make things difficult. Worse yet an inexperienced pi can get sued along with their clients being joined to the lawsuit. This is why you should always verify a private investigators license and look at their online business reviews. When it comes to inexperienced investigators you can find them on instagram and watch videos of them being caught by someone and or news articles where PI's were beaten up badly.
